What an incredible couple of days with Health eVillages’ partner in Uganda, Angels of Hope! From the moment we arrived at the site, it was apparent that Health eVillages had transformed the availability of medical reference content for the providers. The devices had obviously been used regularly and so much of the content was bookmarked so the nurses and community health workers could access it quickly.
This morning a young mother came in who was quite ill and required treatment. She was on a few medications and as such, Nurse Anet was nervous to prescribe her anything new. Right in front of us she was able to use the interaction analyzer on Skyscape to determine which drugs would be safe with the medication the mother was already on – incredible!
The community surrounding Matugga heard of the videos we were projecting last night at the clinic. One by one mothers and fathers with babies began coming by today to watch the videos on breast feeding and on the best foods to feed their babies! It was incredible to watch them learn information that many would just assume is common knowledge.
Tomorrow we travel to Kijabe, Kenya to visit Dr. Newton and his team of Kenyan anesthesiologists. We will be introducing the newest addition to our Health eVillages software suite, Welvu! Check it out at www.welvu.com.
