Health eVillages Holds Landmark Anniversary Celebration
Event honors healthcare leaders and humanitarians for their vanguard work to expand access to care around the globe and raises over $150,000
NEW YORK – (March 24, 2016) – Over 100 global healthcare leaders and supporters recently convened at the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City. They celebrated five years of improving healthcare and well-being in the most challenging clinical environments across the globe for the Health eVillages 5th Anniversary Celebration. Health eVillages raised more than $150,000 at the event, which will be used to equip healthcare professionals with the education, training, and technology they need to provide quality care for communities in Haiti, East Africa, India and the rural U.S.
After Health eVillages Founder and Chairman, Donato Tramuto, rang NASDAQ’s closing bell, more than 125 people gathered for the anniversary celebration, including officials from Boehringer-Ingelheim, The Clinton Foundation, Gallup and The Skoll Foundation.
Notable healthcare leaders and humanitarians were recognized for their leadership of significant healthcare initiatives and awarded with Health eVillages’ inaugural Heal-the-Villages Awards. The honorees included Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky, Former Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy, James Nardella of the Skoll Foundation, Jena Lee Nardella of Health eVillages’ partner program Blood:Water, and healthcare professional Wycliffe Omwanda of the Lwala Community Alliance. Videos of all the honorees and speakers at the Health eVillages’ 5th Anniversary Celebration can be viewed here.
“It was a night to remember, with honorees sharing unforgettable stories about the impact Health eVillages has on healthcare providers and the communities they serve around the world,” said Tramuto. “I am profoundly moved by the dedication of these leaders and our supporters for their contributions to world health. While we exceeded our goal for the evening, the true accomplishment was the knowledge that our mission around extending health care access and saving lives will be expanded further as a result of the success of this event.”
