Location: Juba, South Sudan
In South Sudan, the youngest country in the world, giving birth to a new life is a dangerous task. An estimated 200,000 women die, just in South Sudan, each year due to labor complications. Real Medicine Foundation’s mission in Juba Teaching Hospital in Juba, South Sudan is to reduce this completely unnecessary maternal mortality.
In partnership with Real Medicine Foundation, Health eVillages works with professionals in Juba Teaching Hospital who teach both providers and patients proper, respectful maternal care. The thirty devices, deployed in February 2015 during our initial launch of the program, have been used with hundreds of patients, allowing providers to access information which they utilize during triage, when diagnosing, and while providing more effective treatment for their patients.
