After our most recent venture to Hinche, Haiti, to visit our first ever Health eVillages site, we made a promise to provide a device – loaded with content in French and/or Creole – to each nurse who enters our HERO program. The HERO program, with the mission of fostering the betterment of nurse education that is essential to enhancing the patient experience, was launched in 2011 and provided 12 iPods to nursing students. The program is now active in 5 nursing schools across Haiti. Our renewed commitment to continue our efforts in Haiti will allow for each ward of Ste. Therese to have at least a single device, if not more. Practitioners will be able to fully integrate the mobile devices into their clinical operations.

During this same trip, we had the opportunity to visit the Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais. This facility holds 400 beds and is staffed by almost 900 individuals. We are now exploring a new relationship with the Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais in which we would deploy 11 additional devices to equip each ward in the facility. We are looking forward to the prospect of becoming part of the phenomenal work being done by the providers at Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais and to continuing our work with the nurses in Hinche.
