Chairman Speaks Out About Fight Healthcare Injustices in Lwala

Haiti blog

Our Chairman and Founder of Health eVillages, Donato Tramuto often says, “It’s not about starting where you want to be. It’s about starting somewhere.” This quote often speaks to the fundraising efforts Health eVillages takes part in both for our own efforts and our partners’.

Recently, Donato was asked to be the keynote speaker at the Lwala AIDS Awareness and Benefit Gala hosted by our partner, Lwala Community Alliance. He engaged a room full of more than 120 people speaking to the work Health eVillages has done with the LCA to move the needle in Lwala, and his passion of why attendees should give back to a greater cause.

Attendees were also given the unique opportunity to hear from one of the two brothers who founded the LCA, Dr. Frederick Ochieng. He shared his experiences growing up in Lwala and the travesty AIDS has had on his community including taking the life of both of his parents.

The event helped to raise more than $9,000 to support the LCA’s continued development.
