I was honored to represent Health eVillages as a delegate to the Opportunity Collaboration Global forum in Cancun, Mexico this month to meet with advocates and changemakers who work to make the world a better place. The OC is a global network of leaders dedicated to building sustainable solutions to poverty and injustice. Fellow delegates represented the health care, education/empowerment, human rights/justice, finance and agriculture/water sectors from all over the world. Collaborative sessions, meetings and events are designed to help build alliances and advance each NGO’s initiatives.
OC bills itself as an un-conference, and it really was. Rather than huge plenary sessions and expos or cocktail parties, our work was done in small groups, personal introductions were made to those we wished to connect with both beforehand and onsite generously, and “asks” and “offers” were treated as genuine collaborative tools to help each other advance our work.
